Allison Janney

AllisonAllison Brooks Janney was born November 19, 1959. 2. She is an American actress. Her roles on screen and the stage have been a hallmark of her professional career, which spanned three decades. Janney was nominated for two Tony Awards and has been awarded the Academy Award as well as a British Academy Film Award. Janney was born in Boston as a child, but was raised at home in Dayton (Ohio). Her career began when she was awarded a scholarship to education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after she graduated from Kenyon College. Janney became a television star in 1999, playing C. J. Cregg, a role she played on the NBC's political drama The West Wing (2000-2006). She was awarded Four Primetime Emmy Awards for this performance. In 2014, she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding guest actor in the Drama Series for her character Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
