Madekwe comes from a multi-cultural family. Her birthplace was within South London. The father of her is Nigerian and Swiss and her mother is English. She attended The Brit School when she was 14. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art was where she received the BA in acting. Madekwe scored her first motion picture role in the Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the following film, she was the lead in Elisha, an episode of the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In addition, she appeared as Ollie in the six episodes from Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008, she got Bambi's part on the ITV2 Drama Series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was in two series, 2 and 3. Madekwe was a star in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her theatre credits includes Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams and Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe had her official US debut in the 2009 drama series The Beautiful Life, which only aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Her parents Roy and Patty and the four brothers of her, Brett, Todd, and Bram who were also present.
