Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Her family is the fourth Roberts family to have resided in Atlanta. This began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. At an early age, her father was interested in theatre. In 1952, while a student of Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, they got married and in 1956 their son Eric Anthony was born. The couple divorced in 1957. the air force and Walter enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter was recruited as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to be a part of the production team for the television show Bum Bum His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. In 1964, Walter as well as Betty Lou began production on the local Saturday morning children's TV show called Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed themselves. The following year, they started the Actors and Writers Workshop which was in operation for a period of six years. They had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also known as Julie) at the time.
