Her father, an native of Argentina with Scottish and English descent is her mother. Her mother is of Spanish and English ancestry. She was the youngest of a clan comprised of six children. Four siblings of Taylor-Joy are from her previous marriage to Taylor's dad. They lived together in Buenos Aires from the time she was just six until they moved to Victoria, London. Taylor-Joy believes that moving into London was difficult and that she didn't learn English so that she could avoid returning to Argentina. Her school had to change between Northlands and then Hill House. After that, she was enrolled at Queen's Gate School where she studied ballet and acted in school productions. In the year she turned 16 she dropped out of school in order to take on a full-time job in acting. Taylor-Joy always knew she wanted to be an actress. Her dream was granted a opportunity to do so by Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management and was offered a modelling job.
